During the briefing, Ablakwa outlined transformative diplomatic efforts, including Ghana’s role in regional stability and protection of citizens abroad. He specifically addressed the decision to accept West African deportees from the United States, emphasizing that the humanitarian agreement covering migrants from countries like Nigeria and Gambia provides no financial benefits to Ghana and is guided by international standards. Ablakwa clarified that robust measures are in place to screen out hardened criminals, countering criticisms of sovereignty erosion.

He also highlighted reforms like the reopening of the Ghana Embassy in Iran on September 16, 2025, and expanded ties with China, including zero-tariff access for African exports. The session underscored the ministry’s focus on people-centered diplomacy amid ongoing regional challenges.
