The Ashanti Kingdom is marking the final day of funeral rites in honor of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who passed away on August 7, 2025, at the age of 98.
For the past four days, mourners from across Ghana and beyond have gathered at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi to participate in the doteyie (state funeral) of the revered queen mother, who was also the elder sister of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Her passing was formally announced by the Asantehene during an emergency meeting of the Asanteman Traditional Council on August 11, 2025. Since then, a series of elaborate ceremonies reflecting Ashanti cultural traditions have been held to honor her life and legacy.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III is remembered for her wisdom, leadership, and enduring role in preserving the customs of the Ashanti people. Her burial marks the end of an era for the royal household and the wider Asanteman community.
