The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) is trending after announcing UGX 500 million in prize money for the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League season.
The funds will be split across the league’s new three-round format, aimed at boosting competitiveness. FUFA also rolled out revised revenue-sharing rules for match days, sparking heated debate among fans and clubs over fairness and sustainability.
The package covers player insurance, marketing, media coverage, and club operations, while each UPL team will additionally receive up to UGX 80 million through the FUFA Competitions Development Fund.
While FUFA says the reforms will modernise and professionalise Ugandan football, critics argue the changes could place extra financial and logistical pressure on already struggling clubs.
