Former Premier League referee David Coote has been charged with making an indecent video of a child, Nottinghamshire Police confirmed.
The 43-year-old from Collingham is set to appear before Nottingham Magistrates Court on September 11. The Category A charge, the most serious level, relates to a video file recovered in February 2025. He is currently on conditional bail.

Coote’s career had already collapsed before the charge. In December 2024, he was dismissed by PGMOL after videos surfaced of him making derogatory remarks about Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp, followed by footage of him allegedly snorting white powder. UEFA banned him from officiating until 2026, while the FA handed him an eight-week suspension.
