Bin Laden Analogy Fuels Uproar as U.S. Senator Backs Israel’s Qatar Strike

Osama bin Laden’s name is trending in global politics after U.S. Senator Steve Daines compared Israel’s airstrike in Qatar—targeting Hamas leaders—to the American mission that killed the al-Qaeda chief in Pakistan.

Daines, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, argued that Israel’s operation was a rightful act of self-defense, insisting that Hamas is a global menace “like a cancer” that must be eradicated.

The remark has sparked heated debate worldwide. Qatar condemned the strike for violating its sovereignty, while President Trump voiced displeasure, warning that the attack could complicate fragile ceasefire talks.

The strike, which hit a residential complex in Doha, has drawn widespread criticism, with international observers questioning its legality and impact on regional stability.

Daines, however, doubled down, saying nations must act decisively against terror threats—wherever they are found. His upcoming trip to Israel, originally planned for cultural engagements, now takes on heightened political significance amid the escalating fallout.
