Liverpool’s Egyptian King had one of the greatest individual seasons the Premier League has ever seen… yet somehow finished 4th in the Ballon d’Or.
Here’s why that makes ZERO sense
Salah racked up 47 goal contributions in the Premier League alone – 13 more than any other player in Europe’s top 5 leagues and 20 more than Dembele managed in Ligue 1.

That 47 tally set the record for the most goal involvements ever in a 38-game PL season. Historic.
Across all comps, Salah had 57 G/A – the most of any player in Europe’s top 5 leagues.
In December 2024 alone, Salah bagged 7 goals + 7 assists in the PL. That’s just 8 fewer G/A than Lamine Yamal got in his entire La Liga season.

To put it in context: Salah’s 47 G/A is only two shy of Messi’s legendary 49 in 2018-19 – a year Messi didn’t win the Ballon d’Or either. Déjà vu.
He scored or assisted against every PL club except Nottingham Forest.
Against the “big six,” Salah dropped 18 G/A in 10 games. That’s 1.8 per match vs the league’s toughest opponents.

And he did it in the Premier League, widely regarded as the strongest, most competitive league in the world (Ligue 1 ranked fifth).
He logged 169 shot-creating actions in the PL. Only Palmer, Bruno Fernandes, and Yamal produced more across Europe’s top 5 leagues.
Bonus stat: Salah scored + assisted in 11 different PL games last season. That’s more than Eden Hazard managed in his entire Chelsea career (10).
Bottom line: Salah didn’t just have a good year. He had one of the greatest seasons the PL has ever witnessed.
And finishing 4th in the Ballon d’Or? Robbery of the highest order.
