Wildfire Smoke from Canada Triggers Air Quality Advisory in Massachusetts

 


Smoke from ongoing Canadian wildfires has drifted into Massachusetts, prompting an air quality advisory across parts of the state through Monday night.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration issued alerts for sections of the Upper Midwest and Northeast as wildfire smoke continues to affect the region.



Several U.S. cities, including Milwaukee, Buffalo, and parts of Detroit, reported unhealthy air conditions, while areas such as Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Cleveland faced risks particularly hazardous to sensitive groups.

According to the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre, 743 wildfires were active as of Monday morning, with 298 classified as out of control. Massachusetts residents are advised to limit outdoor activities until conditions improve.
