Barcelona’s young stars Gavi and Fermin Lopez, once inseparable friends since their days at La Masia, are reportedly facing a fallout due to tensions between their girlfriends. The pair, who rose through Barcelona’s youth system together and are now important members of Hansi Flick’s squad, are said to have grown distant after disagreements between Gavi’s partner, Anay Pelayo, and Lopez’s partner, Berta Gallardo.

According to reports, the strained relationship between the two women has created an awkward atmosphere that has carried over into the dressing room. The tension became apparent when Gavi celebrated his 21st birthday on August 5 without receiving any public or private message from Lopez. This silence is being viewed by Spanish media as a sign of their growing rift.
Lopez further fuelled speculation when he posted then quickly deleted a cryptic social media message, stating that “bad guys never win” and implying that betrayal and cowardice eventually come to light. While he did not name anyone directly, many believe it was aimed at Gavi’s circle.
The reported feud between Gavi and Lopez has sparked concerns about its impact on Barcelona’s dressing room harmony ahead of the new season. Both players are considered rising talents and key parts of the club’s long-term future. Having been close friends for years, their apparent falling out is notable given their shared history and importance to the squad.

While Barcelona has not commented on the matter, the issue has gained traction in Spanish media, especially because it stems from personal relationships rather than professional disagreements. Off-field disputes among partners have occasionally disrupted football teams in the past, and observers are keen to see whether Flick can manage any potential fallout.
Despite the tension, Barcelona is coming off a successful pre-season tour in Asia, where they won all their matches. The team will now face Como, managed by former Barça midfielder Cesc Fabregas, in the Joan Gamper Trophy on Sunday.
It remains to be seen whether Gavi and Lopez can mend their friendship or whether the disagreement will linger into the season. For now, the focus for the club will be on starting the campaign strongly while keeping any internal issues from affecting performance on the pitch.
