Revealed: Barca's new Rashford registration plan

Barcelona are reportedly prepared to sell promising midfielder Marc Casado at a cut-price fee in order to register Marcus Rashford, who is set to arrive on loan from Manchester United. Due to ongoing financial and squad registration issues, Barca are under pressure to create space on their roster before officially confirming Rashford’s inclusion. Casado, a La Masia graduate who impressed last season and even earned a national team call-up, has fallen down the pecking order under new manager Hansi Flick. With Frenkie de Jong and rising star Marc Bernal ahead of him, Casado’s future at the club looks uncertain. Barca have valued him at €30 million but are reportedly open to offers as low as €15 million to speed up Rashford’s registration and potentially clear space for other signings. Selling a talented academy product for so little could upset fans, but Barca’s priority remains financial flexibility and squad registration compliance.

Earlier in the transfer window, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid were both linked with interest in Marc Casado. Back then, Barcelona reportedly slapped a €50 million price tag on the 20-year-old, which cooled interest from both clubs. Now that the Catalans are willing to accept far less, there’s a possibility those suitors could return to the table. Despite the speculation, Casado has not asked to leave and is said to be committed to Barcelona, the club he’s supported his whole life. He is reportedly willing to stay even with limited playing time, reflecting his loyalty and belief in his long-term chances. However, with Rashford’s arrival pending and other squad moves on hold due to registration issues, Barca may proceed with a sale regardless of Casado’s wishes. The club sees the move as a necessary sacrifice to bring in high-impact players while balancing the books and staying within La Liga’s strict financial rules.
