Son Heung-min’s departure from Tottenham Hotspur marks the end of an era for both the club and the Premier League. The 33-year-old South Korean captain joined Los Angeles FC on Wednesday in a record-breaking MLS transfer, ending a nine-year spell in North London. Son arrived from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and went on to score 173 goals and provide 101 assists in 454 appearances for Spurs.

During his time at the club, Son formed a deadly attacking partnership with Harry Kane, combining for 47 Premier League goals a record that cemented their place among the league’s most effective duos. His achievements include leading Spurs to their first trophy in 17 years by winning the Europa League in May, a fitting end to his Tottenham career.
Harry Kane, now at Bayern Munich, paid an emotional tribute to his former teammate after Bayern’s 4-0 friendly win over Spurs. Kane described Son as “a great person” and “a humble guy,” highlighting the strong friendship they developed both on and off the pitch.

Kane emphasised that their understanding on the field was natural, calling it “one of the best partnerships in Premier League history.” He expressed pride that Son’s final act for Tottenham was lifting a trophy, noting it was a perfect conclusion to his time at the club. Kane also wished Son success in his new chapter in Los Angeles and said he hopes they will reunite soon.
Kane himself is a Spurs academy graduate, having joined at age 11 and scored a club-record 280 goals in over 430 appearances before moving to Bayern Munich in 2023. Both players leave behind a legacy of loyalty, consistency, and excellence that will be remembered by Tottenham fans for years to come.
