Man Utd complete deal for two-time Champions League winner Rolfo

Manchester United Women have completed the signing of Swedish forward Fridolina Rolfö, a two-time Champions League winner with Barcelona. The 31-year-old joins on a contract until 2027 after her departure from the Spanish champions earlier this summer.

Rolfö spent four successful seasons at Barca, helping them win 11 major honours, including two Champions League titles. Her contract still had a year left, but it was ended by mutual agreement to help Barcelona comply with financial regulations.

United manager Marc Skinner sees Rolfö as a vital addition as the team aims to compete with Europe’s elite. Her experience and winning mentality will be key as United prepare for a challenging start to the season.

Speaking about the move, Rolfö said she was drawn by Manchester United’s history and their ambition in the women’s game. She praised the Women’s Super League as “probably the strongest league in the world” and expressed her desire to help the team succeed in the Champions League.

The signing comes just 12 days before United’s season begins. They face PSV Eindhoven in the first qualifying round of the Women’s Champions League on August 27, with a potential second tie against Hammarby three days later.

Rolfö becomes United’s second summer signing, following fellow Sweden international Julia Zigiotti Olme from Bayern Munich. If fit to play in the qualifiers, Rolfö could significantly boost United’s hopes of reaching the group stage for the first time in their history.
