Just in time! Barcelona finally register Rashford & Garcia

Barcelona supporters can finally relax after the club officially registered Marcus Rashford and Joan Garcia with La Liga just in time for the season opener against Mallorca. Rashford, who joined on loan from Manchester United earlier this summer, had been left waiting while the club worked through paperwork and financial restrictions imposed by the league. With the final approval now confirmed, he is available for selection in Saturday’s match and could make his competitive debut in Blaugrana colours.

Despite strong interest from other European clubs, Rashford’s determination to join Barcelona never wavered. The confirmation of his registration marks the end of a tense saga that once again highlighted the challenges Barca face under La Liga’s strict financial rules. Joan Garcia, the young goalkeeper signed from Espanyol, has also been cleared and is expected to provide depth in Flick’s squad.

Club president Joan Laporta confirmed the news at a fan gathering in Mallorca, announcing that if coach Hansi Flick wishes, both players are eligible to play immediately. With Robert Lewandowski sidelined through injury, Rashford may be handed a starting role in attack, competing directly with Ferran Torres for the central striking position against Mallorca.

Barcelona’s latest registration victory comes against the backdrop of continued financial strain. In order to fit Rashford and Garcia into the wage structure, the club offloaded several players earlier this summer. Experienced names like Clement Lenglet, Inigo Martinez and Ansu Fati have all departed, while young talents were also sacrificed to ease the pressure on the salary cap. More exits are expected, with Oriol Romeu, Inaki Pena and Hector Fort tipped as possible departures.

Despite these sacrifices, the Catalan giants still have three signings awaiting approval. Wojciech Szczesny, Gerard Martin and Roony Bardghji remain unregistered and were left out of the travelling squad for the Mallorca clash. This underlines the continuing balancing act between squad strengthening and financial compliance, a theme that has become all too familiar at Camp Nou in recent years.

Rashford’s arrival offers coach Hansi Flick both depth and flexibility in attack. With Lewandowski injured, the English forward could slot straight into the starting XI, tasked with providing pace, direct running and a clinical edge in front of goal. For Garcia, the move represents an important step up as he competes for minutes in a squad where every role is scrutinised.
