English actor Terence Stamp, celebrated for his commanding performances and most famously for portraying the arch-villain General Zod in the Superman films, has died at the age of 87. His family confirmed his passing today, August 17.

Over a career spanning six decades, Stamp became renowned for his sophisticated villain roles and earned numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe Award, a Cannes Film Festival Award, and a Silver Bear.
