(In the U.S) Orioles Call Up Top Catching Prospect Samuel Basallo

Samuel Basallo, the highly rated 21-year-old catcher and the Orioles’ eighth-best prospect, has been called up to the majors.

The move comes just a day after Baltimore promoted its No. 3 prospect, outfielder Dylan Beavers, who debuted in Houston with his first major league hit.

Basallo, who signed with the Orioles as an international free agent in January 2021, began his professional career that same year with the Dominican Summer League Orioles. His promotion marks another step in Baltimore’s exciting youth movement.
