(In the U.K) Kate Forbes to Step Down from Scottish Parliament

 


Kate Forbes, Scotland’s Deputy First Minister and MSP for Skye, Lochaber, and Badenoch since 2016, will not seek re-election at the next Scottish Parliament election. Announcing her decision, Forbes cited a desire to prioritize family time after a decade of public service.Reflecting on her tenure, she described her roles as Minister for Public Finance, Cabinet Secretary for Finance, and Deputy First Minister as a privilege. Forbes remains a staunch supporter of the SNP leadership and Scottish independence.

She pledged to serve her constituents diligently over the next year while supporting the SNP’s efforts to secure another term and advance the cause of independence.
