A Charity Commission investigation into Sentebale has revealed significant governance failures following internal disputes among its leadership. While allegations of bullying, racism, and misogyny—some directed at Prince Harry and fellow trustees—were dismissed, the inquiry exposed a lack of clear communication and undefined roles within the organisation.
The internal fallout has cast doubt on Sentebale’s future, especially after a wave of high-profile resignations, including Prince Harry stepping down from the board.

Founded by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso, Sentebale was established to support vulnerable children in southern Africa. However, recent tensions between trustees and chair Dr. Sophie Chandauka over leadership direction and fundraising strategies triggered resignations and drew regulatory attention.
Although the Charity Commission found no systemic misconduct, it criticised the charity’s governance framework. In response to the situation, Prince Harry publicly acknowledged that internal conflict had undermined the charity’s mission.
