President Yoweri Museveni hosted a Nippon Foundation delegation at State House Entebbe, reaffirming Japan’s role in strengthening Uganda’s rehabilitation efforts. Led by Mr. Isao Iijima and Chairman Takeju Ogata, the Foundation pledged $500,000 to support the construction of a veterans’ center in Mubende.

Museveni praised the collaboration as part of his focus on international partnerships that improve the welfare of soldiers injured in past conflicts and national service.
The visit underscored the enduring Uganda–Japan relationship, with Museveni expressing gratitude for the Foundation’s commitment to aiding disabled veterans. Adding a personal touch to the exchange, Museveni recalled how his brother earned the nickname “Toyota” in 1975, linking the anecdote to Japan’s iconic automobile brand.
