(In Uganda) Mama D Fundraiser Sparks Fraud Allegations and Online Uproar

Mama D is at the center of a growing controversy in Uganda following allegations of fraud tied to a fundraising campaign launched to cover her hospital bills after giving birth to twins.

What began as a goodwill initiative has now turned into a heated debate online, with several netizens accusing Mama D of scamming the public. The situation escalated after journalist Gabriel Buule one of the key figures linked to the fundraiser revealed that he had never met Mama D in person.

The campaign was reportedly spearheaded by UOX President Gideon Nova Kwikiriza, with support from Buule. However, confusion emerged when online users discovered that although Kwikiriza initiated the effort, donations were allegedly sent to both Buule and Mama D directly.

This sparked suspicion and backlash, with some accusing all involved parties of possible collusion. Others, however, have defended Buule, suggesting he may have participated in the campaign in good faith, unaware of any potential wrongdoing.

As calls for transparency grow louder, the incident has triggered broader concerns about accountability and trust in online fundraising efforts across the country.
