Nigerian artist Naira Marley has publicly addressed the controversy surrounding the death of his former signee, Mohbad, insisting he played no role in the tragedy. Marley revealed that Mohbad battled substance abuse and once attempted suicide, while also accusing him of financial misconduct involving $72,000. He further argued that those who were with the late singer in the 24–48 hours before his death should have faced arrest.

Marley rejected claims of bullying, stressing his willingness to release Mohbad’s royalties and declaring his innocence. Although cleared by a Lagos court in February 2025, his name remains tied to the case after Mohbad’s viral 2022 video claiming Marlian Music would be responsible if anything happened to him.
Providing what he called evidence, Marley pointed to Mohbad’s hospital visits and a panic attack during an NDLEA raid, while describing his own two-month detention as unjust. Meanwhile, the Ikorodu Coroner’s Court attributed blame to an auxiliary nurse for negligence.
