(In Nigeria) Internet fraudsters fund many Nigerian artists – M.I claims

M.I Abaga urged wealthy Nigerians to take a more active role in supporting the country’s creative talents. The rapper believes that this model is unsustainable and leaves room for fraudulent sources to fill the gap.

He explained that with proper investment from individuals and institutions in Nigeria, talented musicians would not need to rely on questionable funding. He said that if Nigeria is to compete globally in music and entertainment, it needs to build its own strong, transparent financial systems for creatives.

Pointing to the success of Nigerian artists on the world stage, M.I argued that there is clear evidence of talent and global demand for Nigerian music. However, without the right local support, this success is built on shaky foundations. He ended by saying that the industry’s reliance on internet fraud funding should be a wake-up call for the nation.

The rap legend says many Nigerian artists rely on internet fraudsters for funding, calling it a big problem for the industry. He’s urging wealthy Nigerians to invest in local talent instead of leaving young creatives to depend on risky or foreign money.
