(In Kenya)Kericho Governor Faces Fresh Impeachment Bid Over KSh 80 Million Payment Scandal


Kericho Governor Erick Mutai is facing a fresh impeachment motion filed by MCA Kiprotich Rogony, who accuses him of authorising irregular payments exceeding KSh 80 million. This is the second impeachment attempt against Mutai, reigniting political tensions in the county.

In response, the UDA-elected governor has petitioned for the dissolution of the Kericho County Government under Article 192 of the Constitution, calling for fresh elections. Mutai claims the move is retaliation for persistent sabotage by rogue MCAs. The allegations centre on fictitious procurement payments, which he insists are part of a politically motivated witch-hunt.
