(In Kenya) PS Omollo and Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja Lead CHAN 2024 Venue Inspection in Nairobi

 


Kenya’s Principal Secretary for Interior, PS Raymond Omollo, and Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja led a top-level delegation on August 1, 2025, to inspect Nyayo National Stadium and Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, ahead of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).


The purpose of the visit was to assess the readiness of both venues in terms of security, logistics, and infrastructure. The inspection covered key areas including entry points, changing rooms, and perimeter security.

The delegation expressed confidence in Kenya’s preparedness to host the continental event, commending the robust security measures and overall coordination.


Notable figures present included CECAFA Secretary-General Nicholas Musonye, Local Organising Committee (LOC) CEO Myke Rabar, and senior police operations directors. Their joint presence emphasized the government’s commitment to delivering a safe and successful tournament.


The overall assessment was positive, reinforcing Kenya’s readiness to stage a world-class sporting event.
