(In Kenya) AMREF Air Ambulance Crashes in Githurai, Sparks National Mourning


A light aircraft operated by AMREF Flying Doctors tragically crashed and burst into flames in the Mwihoko area of Githurai 45, Nairobi.

The plane lost contact with air traffic control just minutes after taking off from Wilson Airport on a mission to Somalia. The crash in the densely populated residential area triggered panic and a swift emergency response from police, military, and firefighters.

According to the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, the aircraft was carrying four crew members and medical personnel. Rescue operations were launched immediately, though authorities have yet to confirm the number of casualties.

AMREF has pledged full cooperation with investigators and says their focus is on supporting affected families. The Air Accident Investigation Department is leading inquiries into the cause of the crash, as the country reels from yet another aviation tragedy.
