President John Dramani Mahama has delivered a moving tribute at the interfaith state funeral held in honour of the eight citizens who perished in the August 6 military helicopter crash. Speaking to a solemn gathering of mourners, military officials, and dignitaries, the president recognised the sacrifice and dedication of the victims, particularly the Ghana Armed Forces personnel who died in the line of duty.

In a gesture of lasting respect, President Mahama announced the posthumous promotion of WG Cdr Peter Baafemi Anala, Flt Lt Manaen Twum Ampadu, and Flight Sergeant Mensah Addo Ernest. He praised their courage, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation, describing them as patriots whose service will never be forgotten.

The president also revealed the creation of a Children’s Support Fund, dedicated to providing educational and welfare assistance to the offspring of all the fallen heroes. He emphasised that the initiative would ensure these families are cared for, while the memory and legacy of their loved ones are preserved for generations to come.
The ceremony, marked by prayers, military honours, and heartfelt eulogies, reflected the nation’s deep grief and its resolve to honour those who paid the ultimate price in service to Ghana.
