(In Ghana) Transport Fare Hike Sparks Row: GPRTU, GRTCC at Odds Over Consultation.

 

GPRTU is making waves in Ghana because the council has dissociated itself from a recent announcement by the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC) regarding a 20% increase in public transport fares.

The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has declared that the union was neither consulted nor informed prior to the announcement. 

The announcement of the hike in fares by the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC) is set to take effect from Friday, August 8, 2025.
