In an official press statement, MultiChoice Ghana, the operator of DStv, cited the “extremely challenging competitive macro-economic environment” as the reason it cannot implement the proposed reduction.
The disagreement stems from a press briefing held on Friday, August 1, 2025, during the “Government Accountability Series.” At the event, Minister Sam George issued an ultimatum to MultiChoice Ghana, ordering the company to reduce its fees by August 7 or risk the suspension of its broadcasting license.
The situation has sparked widespread public discussion around pricing, access to digital services, and government oversight.
