Liverpool’s interest in Alexander Isak could drastically reshape their attack, just weeks after landing Hugo Ekitike for £69 million. Despite already strengthening with the £100m addition of Florian Wirtz, they are pushing hard to land the Newcastle striker. The club has already cleared some space by selling Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich, but bringing in Isak would give Arne Slot an even bigger selection dilemma.
There’s speculation that Slot may experiment with a two-striker system, something Liverpool used to great effect in past eras. Isak and Ekitike could potentially form a fluid, interchangeable partnership. Meanwhile, Salah could return to a traditional right-wing role, Gakpo might shift left, and Wirtz could operate behind the strikers. However, this system would require midfielders like Gravenberch and Mac Allister to handle major defensive duties.

Whether Slot opts for a tactical overhaul or sticks to his preferred 4-2-3-1, one thing’s certain: the attack is stacked and evolving fast.
The arrival of Isak would impact the entire attacking structure at Liverpool. With Darwin Nunez likely to leave and Diogo Jota tragically unavailable, there’s still a need for a consistent central striker. Isak fills that gap, but his presence would likely reduce Ekitike’s opportunities to start which could work in his favor long term, allowing time to adapt without immediate pressure.
Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo remain crucial wide players, but depth could become an issue if both Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa depart before the transfer window closes. That’s where Jeremie Frimpong’s versatility becomes key he could shift forward when needed, while Rio Ngumoha, the teenage sensation from preseason, also offers an exciting option on the left.

Slot's task will be managing form, fatigue and egos across a packed frontline. If handled right, Liverpool won’t just have options they’ll have one of Europe’s most dangerous and adaptable attacks.
