Ghislaine Maxwell Moved to Prison Camp as Trump Denies Plans to Pardon Her

Ghislaine Maxwell, convicted for helping Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse underage girls, has been moved from a low-security prison in Florida to a minimum-security federal prison camp in Texas. The Bureau of Prisons confirmed the move but did not explain why. These types of prison camps have little or no fencing and fewer staff than higher-security facilities. Maxwell’s lawyer confirmed her transfer but made no further comment. The move came shortly after she met with Deputy U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche. He reportedly wanted to discuss possible others involved in Epstein’s crimes. The Department of Justice has not shared details about the meeting.

President Donald Trump was asked in a Newsmax interview whether he would consider pardoning Maxwell. He replied that no one had asked him and that he knew “nothing about the case.” Trump also said Blanche may just want to protect innocent people from fallout if Epstein-related documents are released. Meanwhile, the Justice Department is trying to unseal grand jury testimony in the Maxwell and Epstein cases. These records are typically kept secret, but two federal judges in Manhattan are reviewing the request. Lawyers for all parties involved are expected to submit their opinions to the court. Maxwell was convicted in 2021 for recruiting girls for Epstein, and she is currently appealing her conviction to the U.S. Supreme Court. Epstein died in 2019 while awaiting trial in New York, and his death was ruled a suicide.
