Nigerian Fuji legend Saheed Osupa, popularly known as Oba Orin (King of Music), is being celebrated across the country today, August 7, as he turns 55.
Born Akorede Babatunde Okunola, Osupa began his professional music career in 1983 as a teenager. He rose to prominence in the Fuji music scene and was famously crowned the "King of Fuji Music" by the late Ayinde Barrister in 2008—a title that has since become synonymous with his name.
His debut album Fuji Fa Disco was followed by Fuji Blues, and he has gone on to release over 40 studio albums, including the ambitious four-in-one project Mr. Music.
