Wife of Trump adviser Katie Miller Denies Rift with Elon Musk Despite Social Media Clues and Political Tensions

Katie Miller, a former Trump administration official and wife of Trump adviser Stephen Miller, has denied speculation of a falling out with Elon Musk. Despite recent changes to her social media profile and Musk unfollowing her on X, Miller told Reuters she continues to work for Musk, stating, "My paycheck still comes from him." However, she declined to specify her current role or whether she speaks on behalf of Musk or his companies. Rumors of a rift intensified following Musk’s public split with former President Donald Trump over government spending. Miller, once an adviser in the Trump-era Department of Government Efficiency led by Musk, left the government over a month ago to work with Musk in what appeared to be a communications capacity. Her exact title was never formally announced. In her first Musk-related public statement in weeks, Miller issued a press release late Wednesday on behalf of xAI, Musk’s artificial intelligence company, criticizing an environmental group in Tennessee. The move seemingly reaffirmed her professional ties with Musk despite apparent distancing online. Observers noted that Miller’s X profile, which once featured a SpaceX rocket, now focuses on her family life, and includes posts of her children and personal activities. Musk’s recent pattern of severing social media ties with both Katie and Stephen Miller fueled speculation among Republican insiders that her association with Musk may have ended. Still, Miller’s continued work for Musk has drawn surprise among Trump loyalists, given Musk’s opposition to some Trump-era policies that her husband championed. Musk was reportedly close to the Millers and spent time at their home during the development of his DOGE initiative. Neither Musk nor X responded to Reuters’ requests for comment. Miller also declined to explain the social media changes or Musk’s decision to unfollow her.
