South Africa Named Buti Manamela As Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology After Nkabane’s Removal

 

Buti Manamela has risen to prominence in South Africa with his recent promotion to Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology. The 46-year-old, previously serving as Deputy Minister in the same department, steps into the ministerial role following the dismissal of Dr. Nobuhle Nkabane.

 Nkabane was sacked due to allegations of irregular appointments to SETA boards and providing misleading information to Parliament, prompting a shake-up in the ministry.Manamela’s appointment marks a significant milestone in his political career. Before this role, he served as Deputy Minister in the Presidency from 2014 to 2017, gaining experience in high-level governance. 

A long-standing member of the African National Congress (ANC), Manamela has represented the party in the National Assembly since May 2009, showcasing his commitment to public service and policy development.
