Opposition leaders in Kenya, including Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka, Fred Matiang’i, and Eugene Wamalwa, have been making waves with their Western Kenya tour, which kicked off in Luanda.
The event, staged in Vihiga County, aimed to galvanise support ahead of the 2027 elections.
Their unity message and criticisms of the Kenya Kwanza government drew large crowds and renewed focus on regional development neglect.

The opposition coalition toured several towns including Mbale, Malava, Mumias, and Kakamega before proceeding to Busia, Bungoma, and Kitale.
The Luanda rally marked a high-energy launch point for the Western mobilisation. George Natembeya joined the movement, cancelling his solo tour.
With the 2027 election in sight, the leaders stressed economic inclusion and accused the ruling administration of sidelining Western Kenya in national planning.
