Mathias Guillemette Wears Custom Canadian Champ Skinsuit Just One Day After Victory

Canadian cyclist Mathias Guillemette stunned fans by racing in a fully customized national champion skinsuit just one day after winning the criterium title at the 2025 Canadian Road Championships. The 23-year-old rider for Tudor Pro Cycling wore the kit at the renowned Les Mardis Cyclistes de Lachine, showcasing not just a quick turnaround but a surprising level of preparation and foresight.

Typically, national champions receive custom gear such as jerseys, jackets, and even bikes from their sponsors in the weeks following a win. But Guillemette, who is also a national champion on the track and an Olympian, had anticipated a potential victory and came prepared. Before the championship weekend, he had a special skinsuit made by his Swiss-based sponsor Assos and packed it in his luggage before heading to Canada.

Although Cycling Canada had released a new design for the national champion’s kit, Guillemette opted for the previous year’s version. He wore the outfit with pride during the Tuesday race, a mere 24 hours after clinching the title.

Currently based in Girona, Spain, Guillemette returned home to Trois Rivières for the national championships. While he placed 11th in the road race, he secured the criterium title on the final day of the event. His decision to bring the skinsuit turned out to be a perfect call, allowing him to celebrate his win in style and with immediate visibility.

Looking ahead to 2025, Guillemette is transitioning more fully to road racing. As a leadout man and sprinter, he aims to refine his race craft in the professional peloton, focus on development, and seize sprinting opportunities when they come.
