Marcus Rashford to report for pre-season training at Manchester United next week

Marcus Rashford is set to return to Manchester United training on Monday as the club begins pre-season preparations. The forward had been hoping for a summer transfer, with a strong preference for joining Barcelona. However, a move has not yet materialized. Rashford appears to be open to training with the squad and is said to be preparing to give full effort while he remains with the club. Last season ended with tensions between Rashford and United’s head coach Ruben Amorim. Rashford was sent on loan to Aston Villa after Amorim publicly criticized his training attitude. Amorim even went as far as to say in January that he would rather name his 63 year old goalkeeper coach as a substitute than include Rashford in the squad. The fallout had major implications for both player and team performance. Amorim has since expressed no regrets, despite admitting the decision to send Rashford away may have cost United up to ten goals over the season. The situation has become one of the most closely watched storylines of the club’s summer.

A permanent move for Rashford remains complicated. Manchester United value him at around forty million pounds and are also open to another loan deal. Rashford is reportedly unwilling to join a London club and is demanding high weekly wages of three hundred sixty five thousand pounds. These factors have narrowed down his options. Despite this, Rashford has been keeping fit during his recent three week holiday in Spain, training with personal coaches in preparation for pre-season. Manchester United’s first friendly match will be against Leeds in Stockholm on July nineteenth. After that, the club will travel to the United States for three games as part of the Summer Series. Rashford’s reintegration into the squad is uncertain. Amorim and Rashford have not been in contact since the exile, and it is unclear whether the manager will attempt to bring him back into the fold or push for a transfer. A resolution that satisfies both player and club remains elusive. The situation draws parallels with last summer when Jadon Sancho returned to United after a clash with Erik ten Hag, only to be sent on loan to Chelsea by the end of August. Rashford’s story could follow a similar path if no agreement is reached soon.
