Colombian winger Luis Diaz has completed a high-profile move from Liverpool to Bayern Munich in a deal worth £65.5 million, including add-ons. The 28-year-old was granted permission to leave Liverpool’s pre-season tour in Asia to finalize the move in Europe, after being left out of the Reds’ 4-2 loss to AC Milan.
Bayern’s initial offer of £58.6m was rejected earlier in the month, but a revised deal was accepted by Liverpool. Diaz will wear the number 14 shirt at Bayern, as the number 7 is already taken by Serge Gnabry.

Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen hailed the Colombian as one of the best left wingers in the Premier League and a proven winner. He praised the teamwork behind the scenes that helped secure the deal and commended Liverpool for fair and respectful negotiations.
Liverpool, in a farewell statement, thanked Diaz for his efforts and acknowledged his part in their recent title-winning campaign. They described his final months at the club as full of joy and impact, noting his influence during their title run.
Luis Diaz expressed excitement at joining Bayern Munich, calling it one of the world’s biggest clubs. In his first words as a Bayern player, Diaz said his aim is to win every possible trophy and contribute both with his football and personality.
“I’m very happy. It means a lot to me,” he said. “We as a team will work every day to achieve success.”

Bayern see Diaz as a major asset. Having already won titles at each of his previous clubs – Junior FC, Porto, and Liverpool – Diaz brings strong experience and flair to the Bundesliga champions. His ability to play wide, create chances, and score goals made him a key target for Bayern this summer.
At Liverpool, Diaz made 148 appearances, scored 41 goals, and helped the Reds clinch the Premier League title last season. He also delivered his most prolific campaign in 2024-25 with 17 goals across all competitions.
Liverpool have already lined up replacements, signing young attacking talents Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, and showing interest in Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.
The Reds' official statement celebrated Diaz’s Anfield career and wished him well as he begins a new chapter. His departure is part of a broader squad reshaping at Liverpool following recent successes.
Diaz now joins a Bayern team eager to bounce back after a disappointing season by their standards. His addition is seen as a signal of intent from the German side.
