Kenya Hands Over Kasarani Stadium Ahead of CHAN 2024 Debut

 


Kenya has officially handed over the refurbished Kasarani Stadium in preparation for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which the country is co-hosting with Uganda and Tanzania.This marks Kenya’s debut in the tournament and has sparked national excitement as the country prepares to showcase its local football talent on a continental stage.


Kasarani Stadium will host Group A matches and the final. The tournament, originally slated for 2024, has been rescheduled to August 2025. It features national teams made up exclusively of home-based players. Kenya is in Group A alongside Morocco, DR Congo, Zambia, and Angola, and will kick off its campaign against DR Congo on August 3. The final will be held at Kasarani on August 30.

This co-hosting role is also seen as a major step forward in Kenya’s preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which it will also co-host.
