The signing, which includes a tripartite petroleum transit deal, marks a pivotal moment in regional cooperation, reflecting both countries' commitment to economic integration and sustainable development across multiple strategic sectors.

The agreements include seven Memoranda of Understanding and one petroleum transit accord, enabling Uganda’s national oil company to directly import fuel via Kenya.
Both governments also pledged to extend Kenya’s Standard Gauge Railway into Uganda to improve cross-border trade.
The MOUs further promote shared objectives in gender equity, small businesses, scientific research, and diplomatic training, underscoring a strong push toward East African regional unity.
