A devastating flood has struck the mountain village of Ruidoso in New Mexico, leaving at least three people missing and washing several homes downstream. Ruidoso, a popular summer getaway, was overwhelmed by the sudden deluge just days after flash floods in Texas claimed over 100 lives and left more than 160 people unaccounted for.
Emergency responders carried out more than 85 swift water rescues in the affected area, pulling residents from submerged homes and stranded vehicles.
The flooding was triggered by intense storms linked to the region’s monsoon season, which typically spans from late June through early September.
