(In US) 7 Injured in Boat Explosion at Lake Lanier During Fourth of July Celebrations

Lake Lanier, the controversial and allegedly haunted recreational lake near Atlanta, Georgia, is back in the spotlight after a boat explosion injured seven people during Fourth of July celebrations.

The victims, ranging in age from 5 to 45, suffered second- and third-degree burns, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Five were transported to nearby hospitals, including one who was airlifted for emergency care.

This incident adds to the lake’s long-standing reputation for tragedy. Often dubbed “haunted,” Lake Lanier has seen over 700 deaths since its creation in the 1950s, mostly due to swimming and boating accidents.

The lake was formed by flooding several communities including a cemetery leading many to believe that the spirits of the displaced and drowned linger beneath its waters. Stories of unexplained drownings, eerie sightings, and accidents continue to fuel the lake’s dark legend.
