Trueshan, a 9-year-old staying gelding, suffered a fatal injury during the Goodwood Cup at Goodwood Racecourse, leaving the racing community in shock.

The eight-year-old broke down mid-race with a severe pastern fracture and could not be saved. 

His death has left fans, jockey Hollie Doyle, and trainer Alan King heartbroken, as tributes pour in for one of Britain’s most celebrated and consistent stayers.

Trueshan was widely admired for his remarkable stamina and grit, having won multiple Group 1 titles, including the Goodwood Cup and Long Distance Cup. 

His 2022 Northumberland Plate performance remains legendary.
