(In Nigeria) President Declares July 15, 2025, Public Holiday to Honor Late President Buhari

 


The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared July 15, 2025, a national public holiday to commemorate the late former President Muhammadu Buhari. The Interior Ministry announced this as part of a week-long national mourning period, with flags to be flown at half-mast from July 13 to July 19, 2025.

Several Northwest states, including Katsina, Buhari’s home state, have also declared local holidays to reflect on his legacy of integrity and service to the nation. Katsina had initially set July 14 as a local holiday before the national date was confirmed.
