(In Nigeria) Lagos Socialite Abu Abel Arrested Over ₦447 Million Land Scam

 

Abu Abel is making waves in Nigeria because he was arrested by the Force CID, Alagbon, on July 27, 2025, over a ₦447 million land fraud case. 

The Lagos socialite, whose real name is Olaseni Johnson Olayinika, had been on the run for weeks before being found hiding in Victoria Island. 

His arrest was ordered by AIG Margaret Ochalla and executed by CSP Taiwo Oyewole and his team.

The fraud allegation involves the sale of three plots of land in Eti-Osa, Lagos, which were already under dispute.

Investigations revealed that Abel admitted awareness of the existing claims but still went ahead with the transaction. 

He initially refunded ₦230 million and signed a written undertaking in January 2024 to return the balance or forfeit a property in Lekki. 

Instead, he filed a human rights suit to stall the investigation. 

Authorities also suspect he is part of a larger syndicate involved in land scams and criminal intimidation across Lagos and Ogun States.
