(In Nigeria) Governor Alex Otti Reaffirms Loyalty to Labour Party, Denies Coalition Defection

 



Abia State Governor Alex Otti has firmly denied reports linking him to a new political coalition, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the Labour Party. Speaking during a government retreat, Otti dismissed speculation about defection, stating that he was neither invited to nor present at any coalition meeting. 


His remarks follow rising speculation after the recent formation of a new opposition bloc under the African Democratic Congress, which includes prominent figures such as David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola.

The governor used the platform to underscore his administration’s focus on governance and transparency. He also clarified that Abia State has not taken any new loans under his leadership, noting a significant 57% reduction in the state’s debt profile.


Otti emphasized that his priority remains the development of Abia State, assuring citizens that his administration is rooted in integrity and continuity within the Labour Party.
