(In Kenya) Waititu's Prison Term Put on Hold: Court Grants KSh53 Million Bond in Graft Case.

 


Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has been released from prison after serving five months of a 12-year sentence related to a corruption case involving KSh588 million. 

The High Court granted him freedom on a KSh53 million bond pending the outcome of his appeal.

Waititu’s conviction included fines and a ban from holding public office for up to 10 years. 

The charges stemmed from irregularities in road tender contracts during his tenure. 

The court’s recent decision to grant bond follows prolonged legal battles, with critics and supporters sharply divided over the ruling.
