(In Ghana) Patricia Appiagyei Declines ECOWAS Parliament Appointment Over Nomination Concerns


Deputy Minority Leader Patricia Appiagyei has declined her appointment to Ghana’s delegation to the ECOWAS Parliament, citing a lack of consultation in the nomination process.

In a memorandum addressed to the Speaker of Parliament, Appiagyei expressed procedural and legal concerns, particularly regarding Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin. She noted that Afenyo-Markin’s current tenure as a sworn Member and Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament remains valid, suggesting that the new nominations could breach existing protocols.
