(In England) Wiegman hits insane landmark no other manager in football has ever reached

England are through to the final of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 after a thrilling 2-1 extra-time win over Italy. The match, played at high intensity, saw the Lionesses fall behind in the first half to a goal from Italy's Barbara Bonansea. Despite dominating possession and creating several chances, England struggled to find a breakthrough during regular time.

However, in the sixth minute of stoppage time, 19-year-old Michelle Agyemang scored a dramatic equaliser to keep England's hopes alive. The goal sent the game into extra time, where both teams fought hard but failed to convert their chances.

Then came the decisive moment. In the 119th minute, England won a penalty. Although Chloe Kelly’s initial shot was saved, she quickly pounced on the rebound and slotted it home, sending the Lionesses into the final.

England head coach Sarina Wiegman has set a new record in world football. She became the first manager   in either men’s or women’s football   to reach five consecutive major international finals. This landmark achievement cements her legacy as one of the greatest managers in the sport.

Wiegman’s incredible run began in 2017 when she led the Netherlands to victory in the Women’s European Championship. Two years later, she guided the Dutch team to the 2019 Women’s World Cup final, where they finished as runners-up.

In 2021, she took charge of the England national team and quickly brought success. Under her leadership, England won the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 and reached the final of the 2023 Women’s World Cup, narrowly losing to Spain.

Now, with England’s progression to the Euro 2025 final, Wiegman has completed a remarkable streak of five straight major tournament finals. It’s a feat unmatched by any coach in football history, male or female.

Out of those five finals, she has already won two European titles   one with the Netherlands in 2017 and another with England in 2022. She will now be aiming for a third European crown in the upcoming final.

Her leadership, tactical skill, and consistency at the highest level have transformed England into one of the world’s strongest teams. Sunday’s final will be another chance for Wiegman to add to her already impressive legacy.
