Ghana’s Supreme Court Quashes Arrest Warrant Against US-Based Commentator Kevin Taylor

Kevin Taylor is in the spotlight in Ghana after the Supreme Court nullified a bench warrant that had been issued for his arrest. The US-based social commentator had been wanted since January 2020, when High Court judge Justice Eric Kyei Baffour issued the warrant, accusing Taylor of making defamatory remarks about him.

The controversy stems from statements Kevin Taylor made, alleging that Justice Baffour’s promotion was a reward for aligning with the Nana Akufo-Addo administration in a high-profile case involving the National Communications Authority (NCA).

After years of legal back and forth, the Supreme Court has now ruled to quash the warrant, bringing an end to the long-standing legal threat against Taylor and sparking renewed conversations about freedom of expression, judicial accountability, and political criticism in Ghana.
