UK to Sanction Israeli Ministers Ben-Gvir and Smotrich, Reports Times

Britain, along with other international allies, plans to impose sanctions on two far-right Israeli ministers, Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, in response to their conduct during the Gaza conflict. The UK will freeze their assets and impose travel bans.

London's move aligns with actions taken by Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and others. The UK government has also increased pressure on Israel to end the blockade on Gaza, citing warnings of imminent famine.

Last month, the UK suspended free trade talks with Israel over its policies in the West Bank and Gaza, summoned the Israeli ambassador, and announced further sanctions against West Bank settlers. British Foreign Secretary David Lammy condemned comments by Smotrich about possible forceful removal and destruction in Gaza.

The UK's actions reflect rising international concern over the ongoing conflict and Israel’s policies amid the recent escalation.
