Uganda's Express Penalty Scheme (EPS) has been gaining national attention for its innovative approach to traffic management. The electronic system allows for efficient issuance of traffic fines, making it easier for motorists to check and pay for their penalties.
Introduced in 2019, EPS has enabled streamlined ticketing, helping police collect over UGX 41 billion in 2023 alone and improve driver compliance. However, it is also facing scrutiny over rising road accident rates and allegations of system abuse by officials.
