Trump Reports Iran’s Involvement in Gaza Hostage Negotiations
U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Monday that Iran is involved in ongoing negotiations related to a ceasefire and hostage deal between Israel and Hamas. He indicated that Iran's participation is part of broader efforts to secure the release of hostages held in Gaza.
Trump did not provide specific details about Iran’s role, and the White House has not responded to requests for more information. Iran’s mission to the United Nations also did not comment immediately.
The U.S. has proposed a 60-day ceasefire, which Israel has agreed to but Hamas has rejected. Under the plan, 28 Israeli hostages (alive and deceased) would be released in exchange for 1,236 Palestinian prisoners and the remains of 180 Palestinians.
Meanwhile, the U.S. and Iran are also separately negotiating Tehran's nuclear program.
